Planning a Reunion Near Dallas? Special Events Are Even More Special at Mill Creek Ranch Resort

Reunions can be a great way to gather your family and catch up with family members you haven’t seen in a while (or new ones you might not have met yet!). If you have a large group you’re trying to gather, the planning process can seem overwhelming. Here are a few tips to help smooth the process from the reunion planning pros at Mill Creek Ranch Resort, a Dallas special events venue.

First, if several families are involved, you will need to start talking to them early to gauge their interest and availability. You may want to start this up to six months to a year in advance, depending on how many people will be involved. While you’re talking to them, be alert for any signs that they might be willing to help! The more help, the better. Gather email addresses or start a facebook group for easier communication.

A Texas Vacation Cabin Guest Favorite – Bacon Wrapped Jalapenos!

Bacon Wrapped Jalapenos

You’ll need:

6 fresh jalapeno peppers, sliced in half lengthwise and seeded
1 package cream cheese (8 ounces) (strawberry flavor is fantastic)
12 slices bacon

Preheat your grill to high heat. Spread the cream cheese onto the pepper halves. Wrap the bacon around the cheese-stuffed peppers and secure with a toothpick. Place them on the grill and cook until the bacon is crispy. Enjoy!

Note: You may want to wear gloves when slicing and seeding the peppers to avoid burning your hands.

Fishing at Our Vacation Cabins in Texas

Many guests of our vacation cabins in Texas love to take advantage of the excellent fishing opportunities in the Canton area.  

Lake Fork is just 30 miles away from our vacation cabins and is known as the trophy bass fishing lake of Texas, holding 15 of the top 20 Texas State Record Largemouth Bass.

Canton, TX has two city lakes that offer fishing. The larger of the two has a boat ramp (permit required for boaters) and a fishing pier. The smaller of the two allows boats without mechanical power. It also offers park amenities such as playgrounds and a hiking trail.

Old City Lake has pier and bank fishing, swimming (no lifeguard on duty), picnic areas, playground, lighted tennis and volleyball courts, baseball and soccer fields. Call City Hall 903-567-2826 to reserve for group events. Located on Old Kaufman Road, off Hwy. 64 west, main entrance beside Free State Storage.

Canton City Lake “Mill Creek Reservoir” features a boat ramp for fishing and sailboats, swimming (no lifeguard on duty). Call City Hall 903-567-2826 for night fishing permits and to reserve for group events. Located on Arnold Paul Road off Hwy. 243 north of Wal-Mart Superstore.
