Quick tricks and recipes to snazz up your burgers while visiting luxury RV parks Texas

Texas RV Park | Mill Creek Ranch Resort One of the favorites on the grill for regulars and newbies alike that come to Mill Creek Ranch Resort, one of the best luxury RV parks Texas, is the good ‘ol American hamburger. Hamburgers are practically standard for camping trips, because they are easy to whip up, grill and eat. The “same old, same old,” however, can get, well, a little old. Here are a few tips and a recipe to help you snazz up your burgers on your next resort getaway!

Spice it up: If you typically don’t season your meat, it’s time to start. Salt and pepper go a long way, but feel free to throw pretty much any spice or seasoning you like in the ground meat. A few popular options are season salt, grill seasoning, garlic powder (or garlic salt – just don’t salt it twice if you use this!), cayenne and/or chili powder if you like some spice or a little curry powder for a good flavor whallop.

Switch it up: Yes, beef is the classic meat of choice when it comes to hamburgers, however, switching up the ground meat you use is a pretty easy way to make something different. Experiment with ground chicken or turkey, some East Texas venison or even go a little fancier and use lamb. With lamb, you can even mix it with ground beef.

Stuff it!: Stuffed burgers are all the rage these days, so much that there is even a special tool to help you with the process (it’s not really necessary though). The idea is pretty basic: make double the patties with your meat, but flatten them somewhat thin. Mound some cheese, bacon, wilted greens, mushrooms or really anything you can think of on one of the patties, cover with another patty and squish and mold the ends together. Then grill as usual and enjoy! Check out our recipe for greek stuffed lamburgers below!

There is nothing like fancying up a meal or two while camping at one of the best luxury RV Parks Texas. Contact Mill Creek Ranch Resort for more information or to book your luxury RV site.

Greek Stuffed Lamburgers

Makes 4 large burgers
1 ½ pounds ground lamb, or a mix of ground beef and lamb
Zest of 1 lemon
1 Tablespoon fresh oregano (or 1 teaspoon dried oregano)
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup Crumbled feta cheese
½-1 cup wilted spinach (or frozen spinach, thawed)

1. Mix the ground meat with lemon zest, oregano and salt and pepper. Separate the meat into 8 balls of about equal size, and flatten into large patties.

2. Place some crumbled feta and wilted spinach into the center of four of the patties. Top each with another patty and press together at the edges, somewhat sealing the stuffed burger.

3. Grill to your desired doneness. Serve on a bun, between cibatta bread, or in a pita pocket.

Try These Recipes For an Unforgettable Texas RV Park Thanksgiving

Texas RV Park | Mill Creek Ranch ResortHere at the Mill Creek Ranch Resort, we want you to be able to celebrate your holiday season with as much gusto as possible, whether you’re staying in one of our cabins or a great RV site her at the best Texas RV park. This year again, we help take some of the weight off of your Thanksgiving demands.  Join us for a potluck dinner,  Mill Creek will supply Turkey and Ham for everyone’s meal, while you get to bring and share all of your great side dishes with the other guests. If you don’t want to have a public Thanksgiving, then we’ve got you covered with some great ideas for how you can cook your own meal, even from the comfort of your RV.

Turkey is the great entree of choice for our American holidays. You may be daunted to attempt roasting this giant fowl, but have no fear, turkeys have been cooked in much worse situations than a crock pot before. In fact, RV Cooking Show offers this unique way to roast your bird with the least amount of time or effort possible in a clean trashcan. For those less adventurous, RV Free Wheelin’ offers this simple and slow cooked dutch oven option. Either recipe is tantalizing and simple, which is the perfect combination for outdoors cooking.

You are probably aware that the biggest concern with cooking outdoors is keeping the recipes simple, the clean-up minimal, and the food tasty. A few tips should give you confidence in your ability to be a camp chef. Like remembering to pack spices for your trip. Salt and pepper are obviously useful and easy to pack. Other spices may take a little forethought. Try to plan out your meals in advance so you know what you need to cook, then you can simply measure out your spices in advance. Keeping the measured amounts in sandwich baggies or ziplock bags is a great way to keep them handy and easy to pack.

“But Thanksgiving is supposed to be a huge feast,” you may be saying. “How can we keep the dishes to a minimum?” One of the best ways is to consolidate your dishes. For example, making sweet potatoes in a dutch oven is just as easy as setting the pot over hot coals for an hour or so, checking to make sure they are soft. You can add twice the Thanksgiving spirit to this dish by adding in cranberries to give the meal that special dose of tartness. Using some of the spices you packed with you, like nutmeg, cinnamon, or maple sugar. Get creative, and try out some new ideas or recipes. With a  little gumption, you may find that Thanksgiving in a Texas RV park is your favorite way to enjoy the holiday.
