Fun Things To Do East TX That We Like To Do

There is so much to do at Mill Creek and in Canton, Texas. Check out what kind of things our staff likes to do.

“I enjoy going out to Wiley’s Gun shop, visiting with the good folks there and shooting my firearms in the target practice area and looking at the camel. It always looks as if it is going to spit on me. I also like going to Brookshire’s and switching the broccoli with the cauliflower and hunting for armadillos in my backyard.”

– Steve Dye, General Manager

“I love to take my girls to the Cherry Castle Park. The play area is great for kids and we take our dog Charlie walking through wood trails and reading the information about the native plants and animals you can find there. They have volleyball, disc golf and an exercise route. We take a picnic lunch, bikes and make it a day.”

– Stacy Crossley, Director of Sales

“I like to get all dressed up and go to Wal-Mart. In the summer time there is Splash Kingdom or zip line, or go to another town and go cow tipping.”

– Clint Phillips, Facility Manager

“My family and I enjoy Live Music at the Moore’s Store in Ben Wheeler. It’s about a ten minute drive and the food is really good plus they have great prices on drinks. It’s really neat to look at all the little shops they have around the area.”

– Christie Powell, Banquets & Leisure Club Manager

“We love going to The Gator Park. They always have rescued baby animals that they are feeding with bottles and the kids love to pet the deer. Also the East Texas Arboretum in Athens, great place for a picnic.”

– Anjela Miller, Landscaper

“I love to take my grandkids to the Tyler Zoo (Caldwell Zoo). It is only 35 minutes or so from here and they have great restaurants in the area.”

– Ann Thornton, First Monday Shuttle Driver

“I love to go shopping at the Tanger Outlet Mall in Terrell. Is is only 30 minutes from here and has great deals.”

– Chelsea Ansley, Accounting

“Every June and July when blueberries are ready to be harvested, Blue Berry Hills Farm opens to the public. Just grab a bucket and start picking. When you have all of the berries you want they pack them in handy freezer bags so that you can enjoy these healthy treats all year long. Bring a cooler with you, and don’t forget to stop by their country store for homemade preserves, muffins, pies, and gift baskets. Try the blueberry lemonade. It’s awesome!”

– Tracy Vasquez, Housekeeping Supervisor

“Walt & I love to go to The Red Barn (Robertson’s Ham). They have good fish, nice size shrimp and all the trimmings that go with it. Best beans in town, homemade cobblers & ice cream. It’s located about 10 miles west on I 20 exit 516!”

– Sandy Reed, RV Guest Service Representative

“During the holidays I like to take my cousins to Yesterland Farms to ride the roller coaster and hayrides. They have several different fun rides and activities for the family. Plus I get our Christmas tree there and wreath and we get a picture with Santa.”

– Marriah Ortega, Guest Services Manager

We get season passes to Splash Kingdom Water Park and play all summer long. I love that it is family safe and it is not crowded like other water parks.”

– Kristina Garcia, Activities Coordinator

“My family and I enjoy the quaint and friendly environment that Canton offers. We have two lakes as well as two great parks that our family have enjoyed for swimming, fishing and picnics. Canton is the county seat and therefore offers some great restaurants, churches, shopping and civic activities. My husband and I enjoy our local wineries and listening to live music in downtown Ben Wheeler and at Mill Creek’s “The Creek”.”

– Dorinda Morrow, Event Manager
