events in canton tx balloon festOne of the best things to do in Canton, TX is the Tailwind Regional Balloon Fest is gearing up for its 6th annual event, and it’s a real treat. The first of its kind in the county, the fest began in 2012, after a series of balloon appearances at different events created a desire for something more focused. The fest has been growing from year to year, and had to be moved to its current location at the First Monday Trade Days park back in 2015.

Pricing for Tailwinds Regional Balloon Fest in Canton

This year, the Tailwind Regional Balloon Fest will take place on Friday, May 12th and Saturday, May 13th. Gates open at 5 p.m. on Friday, and 10 a.m. on Saturday. Cost for entry is $10 per car, $20 per van (carrying 8-15 passengers), or $50 for buses. Following are some of the events they’ll be featuring.

Tethered Balloon Rides

Tethered balloon rides are a great opportunity to experience the grandeur of a hot air balloon ride without all the commitment. Rides begin at 5 p.m. both Friday and Saturday.

Live Music in Canton

A favorite at The Creek, The Brian Grace band will be playing on Friday at 6 p.m. Their soulful, acoustic, southern rock style thrives in the old, storytelling tradition. Featuring both original and cover songs, they play to the crowd and bring an energy that shows in their performances.

Brian Grace recently won the 2016 Vocalist of the Year at the Josie Music Awards in Nashville, TN. You can learn more about them and get a sampling of their sound on the Brian Grace Band website.

Battle of the Bands and Songwriter competition begins at noon on Saturday, and will feature more local talent as they compete for cash prizes.

Get Out & Run

The 5K Glow Run starts at 9:15 p.m. on Friday, and participants should expect a dazzling experience. Glow stations are located throughout the course, lighting up participants. Come early to put on your glow “war paint” and, of course, enjoy the festivities. 5K Glow Run t-shirts available for purchase. Fun for Kids and Adults

The festival has a great area for the kids to enjoy a tons of activities that include a petting Zoo, Pony rides, bounce houses and much more.  Don’t worry we have fun for the ones who want to adult.  The festival will feature an Art show with artists displaying and selling their works.  The guys will love the car show and of course all the great vendors and food.

 

Balloon Glow

The Balloon Glow, or if weather is not permitting, the candlestick or oilfield burn, is a spectacular sight. Watch the flames light up the balloons or shoot 30 feet into the air for a nighttime display like no other. The Balloon Glow starts at 8:30 p.m. both nights.
