Grand Saline, Texas, is home to one of the Morton salt mines, and the town that grew up around it was created for those working the mines. You can learn more about their history at the Salt Palace Museum. Did you know that the Grand Saline Salt Mine provide ⅓ of the WORLD’S salt!
In the Texas tradition, we like to mix some revelry into our reminiscing. We couldn’t be more excited about the upcoming Grand Saline Salt Festival. This 43rd annual event will be held on Thursday, June 8th through Saturday the 10th.

What are the Events for the Salt Festival?
Music
You can catch live music throughout the event. Main attractions feature local up and coming artists in the country and southern rock genres.
Friday night:
One act that will be back this year is The Wesley Pruitt Band. Their motto is “One Mind, One Band, One Goal – Playing Texas Music with Soul,” and they offer both covers and originals, such as the “Poor Man Blues,” which made it onto the Texas Country Music charts. Head to their website to get a sampling of their music, which ranges from Soul to Blues to Southern Rock, all with a Texas flare.
Saturday night get ready for Rodney Atkins!! Case McClanahan will be opening for Rodney and start at 9pm Need more info here..
Car Show
Nothing’s prettier on a sunny day than a shiny car show. Another annual part of the festivities, the car show this year will be happening on Saturday, June 10th. There is a $20 entry fee for those wanting to show off their classics, but there are trophies, cash, and prizes to be won. Check out the flyer for more info.

Additional details to come, but you can look forward to the food, bingo and horseshoe contests, a parade, Kiddie Kapers, and so much more. It’s a great time for the whole family, and a fun way to celebrate the community built on the salt mines and the household staple, Morton Salt.
