Every Thursday through Sunday preceding the first Monday of every month is the First Monday Trade Days. This enormous flea market brings quite the crowd, searching for the next exciting find, and with plenty to choose from, there’s something for just about anyone.

3. Live Music in East Texas

Summer heat is hard to beat—unless you’re headed for a water park! Splash Kingdom has loads of fun that’s great at keeping the whole family cool. 5. Canton Main Street
Strolling through historic downtown Canton is a great way to relax. Check out the shops, and stop for a bite to eat in the beautiful restored 19th century architecture. 6. East Texas Zoo and Gator Park in Grand Saline
There are so many animals to see and touch at the East Texas Zoo and Gator Park. Learn the truth about gators, tour the exhibits, and stop for a bite to eat at the Grill.

If golfing is your idea of a good time, then you’ve come to the right place. Twin Lakes Golf Course is one of our favorites, and Texas Outside agrees! This course caters to both the newcomers and the experienced, and the scenery in and around the twin lakes it’s named for is stunning.

9. The Downtown Movie Series in Canton
Cap off your day with a under the stars. Every first or second Friday this summer, set up a blanket or lawn chair, and enjoy free movies downtown. Concessions are available to round out your movie experience. Check the flyer for dates and movies.
10. Museums in East Texas
Canton has plenty of museums to explore, but one of our favorites is the Salt Palace Museum. The only building in North America made entirely of salt rock, the museum features the area’s history in the salt industry, dating back to 1845, as well as Grand Saline and its citizens. Come take a lick, and grab your t-shirt!
